Mobile-specific UI
The mobile app is not a shrunken version of the desktop interface. It is built with touch-friendly patterns optimized for smaller screens.
Navigation
- Bottom tab bar — Quick access to Work Items, Chat, Notifications, and More.
- Swipe gestures — Swipe left on a work item to access quick actions (change state, assign, set priority). Swipe right to mark notifications as read.
- Pull to refresh — Pull down on any list to refresh data.
Work item quick actions
Long-press a work item in any list to open a quick action sheet:
| Action | Description |
|---|---|
| Change state | Move to a different workflow state |
| Set priority | Update priority level |
| Assign | Assign or reassign to a member |
| Add label | Attach a label |
| Copy link | Copy the work item URL to clipboard |
| Share | Share via system share sheet |
Compact views
The mobile app automatically adjusts layouts:
- List view shows a compact card for each item with key properties (state, priority, assignee).
- Board view shows columns with horizontal scrolling.
- Detail view uses expandable sections to keep the screen uncluttered.
Push notifications
Push notifications keep you informed without opening the app.
Configuring push notifications
- Open the SetGet mobile app.
- Go to Settings > Notifications.
- Toggle notification types on or off:
| Notification type | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Assigned to me | On | When a work item is assigned to you |
| Mentioned in comment | On | When someone @mentions you |
| State change on my items | On | When an item you created/own changes |
| New chat message | On | Messages in channels you are in |
| Direct message | On | Private messages sent to you |
| Cycle reminders | Off | Upcoming cycle start/end dates |
| Due date reminders | Off | Items approaching their due date |
Notification behavior
- Notifications respect Do Not Disturb settings on your device.
- If you are actively viewing the app, push notifications are suppressed and shown in-app instead.
- Notification sounds and badges follow your device's system settings.
TIP
To reduce notification noise, use the "Snooze" feature in the app to temporarily silence notifications during focused work sessions.
Offline support
The SetGet mobile app provides limited offline functionality:
What works offline
- View cached data — Work items, pages, and chat messages that were loaded while online remain accessible.
- Draft new items — Create work items while offline. They are synced when connectivity is restored.
- Draft comments — Write comments offline. They are posted when you reconnect.
- Read notifications — Browse previously loaded notifications.
What requires connectivity
- Real-time chat — Sending and receiving live messages requires an internet connection.
- Search — Searching across the workspace requires server access.
- File uploads — Attaching files requires connectivity.
- Syncing changes — Any changes made online by other team members will not appear until you reconnect.
Sync behavior
When connectivity is restored:
- Offline drafts are automatically synced to the server.
- If a conflict is detected (e.g., someone else updated the same item), you are prompted to resolve it.
- A sync indicator appears briefly to confirm successful synchronization.
WARNING
Offline mode relies on locally cached data. If you have not opened a project or item recently, it may not be available offline. Open the items you expect to need before going offline.
Signing in to a self-hosted instance
If your organization runs SetGet on its own infrastructure, you can connect the mobile app to your self-hosted instance.
Connection steps
- Open the SetGet mobile app.
- On the sign-in screen, tap Self-Hosted Instance.
- Enter your instance URL (e.g.,
https://setget.yourcompany.com). - The app verifies the connection and displays the sign-in form.
- Sign in with your credentials.
Requirements for self-hosted mobile access
| Requirement | Details |
|---|---|
| HTTPS | The instance must use a valid SSL certificate |
| Public accessibility | The instance must be reachable from the internet (or your device's network) |
| API version compatibility | The instance must run a supported SetGet API version |
| WebSocket support | Required for real-time chat and notifications |
TIP
If your instance is on a private network, you can connect via VPN on your mobile device. Ensure the VPN is active before opening the app.
Known limitations
The mobile app currently has the following limitations compared to the desktop experience:
| Feature | Limitation |
|---|---|
| Gantt view | Not available on mobile |
| Spreadsheet view | Not available on mobile |
| Calendar view | Simplified monthly view only |
| AI Chat | Available but limited to text interactions |
| Analytics dashboards | View-only; cannot create or edit dashboards |
| Automations | View automation rules but cannot create or edit |
| Admin settings | Limited; full admin requires desktop |
| Keyboard shortcuts | Not applicable on mobile |
| Multi-select drag | Use checkboxes instead of click-drag |
| Page editor | Basic formatting; advanced blocks limited |
Data usage and battery
Data consumption
The SetGet mobile app is designed to be efficient with data:
| Activity | Approximate data usage |
|---|---|
| Browsing work items | 50-200 KB per page load |
| Viewing a work item detail | 10-50 KB per item |
| Chat messages (text only) | 1-5 KB per message |
| File upload | Size of the file + overhead |
| Background sync | 5-20 KB per sync interval |
Battery optimization
- The app uses push notifications instead of polling, which is battery-efficient.
- Background sync is minimized when the app is not in the foreground.
- Reduce battery impact further by disabling real-time presence updates in app settings.
Troubleshooting mobile issues
| Issue | Solution |
|---|---|
| App crashes on launch | Update to the latest version; clear app cache |
| Push notifications not arriving | Check device notification settings and app permissions |
| Sync not working | Verify internet connection; force-close and reopen |
| Cannot connect to self-hosted | Verify URL, HTTPS, and network accessibility |
| Slow performance | Clear app cache; ensure sufficient device storage |
| Login session expired | Sign in again; check if session settings changed |
